Hurricane Ian Relief Fund
As we begin a new year, millions of Floridians are in danger.
Hurricane Ian, one of the strongest hurricanes ever to make landfall in Florida, plunged large parts of the state into darkness and destroyed many homes and businesses. Ian came ashore as a category 4 hurricane with winds at 155 mph, a storm surge exceeding 12 feet, rainfall totals likely more than 24 inches, and resulting flooding and tornadoes on the West Coast and Central Florida and beyond. More than 2.5 million residents were told to evacuate and millions more have no power or water. Statewide there undoubtedly will be many billions of dollars in damages. Conditions on the ground have made it difficult and premature to see Hurricane Ian’s overall impact on our Jewish communities in West and Central Florida. We know that many communities in Ian’s path will have significant needs. The Jewish Federation of Broward County is uniquely positioned to help at times such as these. Thank you for your gift to assist the Jewish communities impacted by Hurricane Ian in West and Central Florida. L’Shana Tova, Alan Cohn |
