Recent studies indicate that 80,000 Holocaust Survivors are living today in the United States — and Broward County is home to the second-largest community of Holocaust Survivors in the South Florida. Many of these individuals have desperate needs. As a result, Kavod SHEF was established to help.

Kavod SHEF, Survivors of the Holocaust Emergency Fund, is a partnership between Seed the Dream Foundation and KAVOD that works with 34 communities across the United States, including Broward County. Through KAVOD SHEF, survivors receive basic necessities and emergency support, including funding for medical needs, utilities, home repairs and rent assistance.

Leveraging the funds raised through a special philanthropic national matching initiative, Kavod SHEF works with the Jewish Federation of Broward County to bring additional dollars to the Survivor community. All donations are matched dollar for dollar.

Your donation will go towards:

  • Paying monthly utility bills and groceries
  • Purchase of a critical appliance, including a refrigerator, stove, or microwave to replace non-working previous one
  • Payment of an HOA, condo maintenance bill, or special assessment
  • A month or more payment of rent or mortgage to avoid eviction
  • Needed home repairs such as: roof, plumbing, air conditioning
  • Medical Expenses, Hearing Aids, Medications, Home Health Assistance

With your help, the Jewish Federation of Broward County is ensuring that Holocaust Survivors don't need anything, whether it’s a new roof on their home, or a complete and healthy meal.
