Temple Beth Torah Shaaray Tzedek Open House & Mitzvah Day
Event Date and Time:
August 18, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Temple Beth Torah Shaaray Tzedek (TBTST) Open House-Mitzvah Day offers an opportunity for visitors to both learn about the synagogue and to participate in community outreach programs. TBTST is committed to following the “mitzvah” or commandment found in Leviticus 19:18: “love your neighbor as yourself” and offers a number of local community mitzvah programs that are at the heart of this egalitarian, inclusive Conservative congregation. Jews of all backgrounds, interfaith families and LGBTQ families are welcomed at TBTST with open hearts and open doors.
Visitors are invited to tour the facilities and sanctuary, meet the TBTST clergy, leadership and educators, and to explore synagogue membership, High Holy Day and adult learning opportunities. TBTST Educational Directors will be on hand to offer information on TBTST Early Childhood Center, the Religious School and Youth Group, as well as school registration. Beyond getting to know what the synagogue offers; visitors can observe and participate in “mitzvah projects”:
• Give Blood at the Big Red Bus
• Make Pet Chews for the Humane Society of Broward County
• Bring Your Pet to the Humane Society of Broward County Van for free vaccinations
• Bring Shoes and Sneakers for Women in Distress of South Florida
• Prepare PBJ sandwiches for Lifenet serving Families/Broward Partnership for the Homeless
• Help Clean up 94th Avenue
• Make High Holiday Cards and Donate Clothing for Sandy Nininger Veterans Nursing Home
• Help Children create button flowers for the Daniel Cantor Center and the Veterans Nursing home.
