Panelists
David Appel
David Appel is a Partner at Marcum. He leads the Firm’s Southeast tax consulting services group and is a member of the Marcum Executive Committee. He is also the national Leader of the Firm’s EB-5 Investor Services Practice group. With more than 30 years of multidisciplinary experience in domestic and international taxation, Mr. Appel focuses his practice on family business tax strategy and consulting services. He has addressed complex issues of estate, succession and retirement planning, including family wealth preservation and transfer to future generations. He was awarded the designation of Personal Financial Specialist by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, in recognition of his considerable experience in personal financial planning. Well-versed in estate tax, international tax, business succession planning and family estate planning, he has presented on numerous occasions to financial institutions and municipalities as well as at a number of tax-related conferences.
Alyssa Greenspan
Alyssa began her career at Northern Trust Bank, rising to investment officer before joining Morningstar, Inc., as a senior equity analyst covering the financial services sector. In 2003, Alyssa joined CCM as a portfolio manager and was promoted to chief operating officer in 2009 and president in 2015. Alyssa served two terms on the board of directors of U.S. SIF — The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, including serving as Treasurer and as part of the Executive Committee. She is also a past director of Impact Shares, which offers socially conscious ETFs with an evolving set of criteria defined by non-profit partners. Alyssa is committed to giving back to her community. She is involved with Women United of the United Way of Broward County, which focuses on education, inspiring, and empowering women of all ages, and the Junior Achievement’s Circle of Wise Women. Alyssa encourages all CCM employees to volunteer and give back to their communities. Alyssa received her B.S.M. in finance from Tulane University and an M.B.A. from the University of Miami. She is a CFA charter holder and holds FINRA licenses: Series 6, 7, 24, 26 and 63.
Mark Grant
Mark F. Grant is Florida Bar Board Certified in Real Estate Law and Condominium and Planned Development Law. He concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate acquisition and development, condominium and homeowner association documentation, commercial leasing, acquisitions and sales, loans and construction contracts. He has represented thousands of clients in the acquisition, financing and development of residential, commercial and industrial properties. Mr. Grant has a statewide reputation as a specialist in the area of large residential, commercial, hotel, and mixed use developments. In addition to representing developers, commercial property owners and other purchasers and sellers of real estate, Mr. Grant serves as counsel to country clubs, condominium and homeowner associations.
