Gained in Translation: PJ Library’s Sister Programs in Israel

Galina Vromen, former director of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s operations in Israel, launched and directed PJ Library’s sister programs in Hebrew and Arabic for more than a decade. During her tenure, the two programs, Sifriyat Pijama (Hebrew for Pajama Library) and Maktabat al-Fanoos (Arabic for Lantern Library) distributed more than 20 MILLION books to children and their families in Israel and was recognized by the U.S. Library of Congress for best practices in promoting early literacy.
