About March of the Living

The March of the Living is an international education program that brings Jewish teens and adults from all over the world to Poland on Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) to march from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the largest concentration camp complex built during World War II, and then to Israel to observe Yom HaZikaron (Israel's Memorial Day), and Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel's Independence Day). Among the goals of the March of the Living is for participants to learn the lessons of the Holocaust and to lead the Jewish people into the future vowing Never Again. The experience leads to a better understanding of the Holocaust and strengthens Jewish identity.

MARCH OF THE LIVING - STAFF

We welcome your interest in participating on the Teen March of the Living in one of the categories described below.

Staff and adults who participate with the teens, will be expected to attend orientation and training sessions specific to staff/adults, in addition to the regular Sunday study sessions with the teens.  A calendar is available on the Staff/Adults. All staff/adults "work" 24/7 for the 14 days.

MADRICH(A) – STAFF MEMBER – You have a background in education, either formal or informal and/or you have worked with teens and have a wonderful rapport with them. You will be asked to teach, counsel and advise a group of teens and work directly with a Bus Captain.

MEDICAL STAFF – You are a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, or registered nurse experienced in dealing with teens. You are qualified to deal with and treat emergencies. The nurse will provide care under the direction of the physician(s). The medical staff will be responsible for the medical care of a group of buses, including teens and adults and may have to miss some group activities.

SURVIVOR LIAISON – Preferably, you have participated in the March of the Living previously and would like to return to help our survivors during this experience which often times can be difficult for them as they age. You have an affinity for working with older adults and understand you may miss some group activities.

ADULTS ACCOMPANYING THE TEENS – You are coming on this trip to help with the teens at various levels, and to witness how this experience allows the teens to grow as proud and dedicated Jews. You may be a parent of one of the teens or not. You will be asked to participate fully in the program, attending all sessions, both for teens and adults, and be given responsibilities with the teens. You will be required to follow the rules and regulations to which the teens must conform. It should be noted that this is not a "family experience". Additional information will be available at the interview.

This year, there will also be an ADULT ONLY GROUP.  This group has flexible opportunities.  More information can be found under Adult Only Program on the side bar.
